SolarTaxi Ghana is looking to make electric vehicles more accessible to buyers in the West African country. The company now offers over 12 models for long term lease, rental, or outright purchase. SolarTaxi Ghana supply cheaper used and new fully electric vehicles from China to the Ghanian market.
The models that the company intend to offer in the Ghanian market include;
- The 32 kWh Dongfeng JunFeng ER30 SKIO EV (100,000 Ghana Cedis ($17,300)
- The 35.2 kWh JAC iEV7L
- The 53.6 kWh Cherry Tiggo 3xe 480 EV SUV
- The 82 kWh BYD E6 400 (pre-owned)
- The 50.38 kWh Leopaard CS9
- The 52.5 kWh FAW Besturn X40 EV460 SUV
- The 43.1 kWh Lifan 650 EV
- The 66.5 kWh Xpeng G3
- The 26.6 kWh Renault K-ZE (Dacia Spring in Europe)
- The 51 kWh Karry k60
- 68 kWh Dongfeng Rich Pickup
- The Changan Oshan A600
Ghana currently has an installed generation capacity of about 4,990MW. However, peak demand is about 2,612MW. This means that there is an excess generation capacity of about 1,968MW that can be adequately utilised for EV charging. This presents a revenue opportunity for Ghanian utility companies.
