Consumers lament inaccurate billing
- Citizens Advice ranks electricity service providers
- Some suppliers failed to bill at least 15% of customers accurately
Citizens Advice has released the ranking for electricity service providers in the United Kingdom (UK). According to Citizens Advice, several complaints from consumers were a result of inaccurate electricity billing. Electricity service providers have said that smart meters will resolve the problem of inaccurate billing.
Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, Clare Moriarty, said, “All companies have a responsibility to deliver the best possible service to their customers, and it is disappointing to see such a wide chasm between those who are taking this seriously and those who are not”. “When customers with billing errors are unable to contact their supplier for help, it can cause immense stress. These problems are even worse for those who are already worried about money”, she added.
According to the ranking, bottom-ranked service providers had at least 15% of their customers complain about inaccurate billing. Igloo Energy ranked number 1 with a 4.65 (out of 5) rating, while Orbit Energy ranked 34th with a 1.5% (out of 5) rating.
