Spanish solar energy company Onyx Solar has signed an agreement with Sterling Bank to install 6,500sqm of crystalline silicon photovoltaic glass at its headquarters, which is under construction in Lagos. The project is set to be Africa’s largest PV integration development. The project is being deployed in coordination with Nigeria’s energy firm, Privida.
It added that Sterling Bank would become a reference for modernity and sustainability in Nigeria as a result of this integration.
The project will see the installation of 3,250 crystalline silicon glass units that will supply up to 1MWp of clean energy, substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Onyx Solar manufactures PV glass for buildings allowing them to generate clean energy. The company’s PV glass has been installed in sky rises and buildings in Singapore, Canada, Dubai, the U.S., Kenya, and many countries. The company is looking to expand its international footprint, especially in Africa, where it is increasingly installing PV glass.
