ENI to launch FLNG in Northern Mozambique
- The construction of the FLNG is underway
- To be delivered by December 2021
Italian energy giant ENI is set to launch a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) in the Northern Mozambican province, Cabo Delgado. The launch will take place in 2022, ENI confirms. The FLNG is currently under construction in South Korea, with an expected timeline for shipment to Mozambique set for December 2021.
According to an ENI spokesperson, the recent terrorist attack at the province of Cabo Delgado affected the extraction and liquefying of the gas resources in the province. Speaking to S&P Global, the spokesperson said, ”So far the violence in the north of Mozambique has not affected the Coral South project timeline, and we confirm start-up in 2022 as per schedule”.
The FLNG facility is expected to produce 3.4 million tonnes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) annually.
