EMA reviews electricity and gas tariffs for July to September
- Electricity tariffs to rise by 3.8%
- Gas prices to increase up to 18.47 cents kWh
Households in Singapore will pay more for electricity from July through September with the expected increase in electricity tariffs for households. Tariffs are expected to increase by 3.8% according to data from SP Group. The increase in the cost of fuel for electricity generation by generation companies is to blame for the increase in tariffs. Household electricity tariffs will increase from 22.55 cents to 23.38 cents per kWh by September. In addition to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the electricity tariffs rate will be 25.02 cents per kWh.
The Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore sets the guidelines for the quarterly review of existing electricity tariffs to take into account the changing fuel costs and energy generation. In addition to electricity tariffs, Singapore expects an increase in the cost of gas for household consumption. Gas prices are expected to increase by 0.4 to 18.47 cents from July through September.
