- Cero Generation is forming a joint venture with Wattcorp.
- Both companies want to deploy about 750MW of solar in Greece.
European solar energy firm Cero Generation and Greek renewable energy developer Wattcrop are set to form a joint venture to deploy 750MW of solar projects in Greece over the next four years. Both partners will initially co-develop Wattcrop’s current portfolio comprising over 480MW of projects in the early stages of development.
The developers believe that the growing power purchase agreement (PPA) market in Greece will enable them to achieve their target. Greece has set its sights on increasing renewable energy share of the electricity generation to 61 per cent by 2030, with solar expected to contribute a significant portion.
Ypatios Moysiadis, Wattcrop Managing Partner, noted that the partnership with Cero Generation would enable Wattcorp to develop, build and operate quality renewable energy assets, which will accelerate the transformation and decarbonisation of the country’s electricity generation. This partnership marks Cero’s entry into Greece. Cero Generation says it currently has about 8GW of solar projects under development across Europe
