- Tysilio will deploy a modular solar plus storage system in Senegal.
- The system is capable of storing 60 kWh of electricity.
- The system is being deployed under Senegal’s Prodac Programme.
French company Tysilio is set to install its containerised solar system in a community agricultural estate (DAC) in Sédhiou, southern Senegal. Tysilio has signed a partnership agreement with Senegal’s National Programme for Community Agricultural Estates (Prodac) to deploy its modular solar system, the “Tysilio Solar Station (TSS)” with battery storage in a DAC in the south of the country.
The system will comprise a 32kWp solar plant connected to inverters and batteries installed in a container. The storage system will store 60 kWh of power, assuring the DAC of supply during periods of unreliability. Tysilio estimates that the TSS will produce about 32.8MWh per year, saving the community farm about 10 million CFA francs (over $17,000) on its operating and maintenance expenses for the generators.
Tysilio received support from the Fasep (Fonds d’étude et d’aide au secteur privé) Innovation Verte scheme of the French Ministry of the Economy’s Treasury Department. This scheme promotes the development of green technologies and innovation.
The Senegalese government launched the Prodac programme in 2014. The programme aims to promote young people participating in the agricultural sector and promote private sector investment in the sector. The government estimates that the programme will generate 300,000 by 2024. This solar module solution is will also reduce farmers’ dependence on fossil generators.
