- Eskom says South African grid under severe pressure
- Seeks consumer cooperation on consumption efficiency
- To implement load shedding from Thursday through Friday
Once again, South Africa’s state-owned electricity company has stated that the national grid is under ”severe pressure”. Eskom has asked consumers to reduce consumption and implement energy-efficient practices to reduce the pressure on its grid network. Eskom has stated that it will implement load shedding from Thursday through Frida in parts of Limpopo and North West and parts of the Free State and Gauteng.
The ongoing protests in the country have prevented the energy company from carrying out the much-needed maintenance works on several electrical installations. Astra substation had caught fire due to the theft of cables, which left residents of Kanana Park, Sweetwater and Wheelers farm without power. “Technicians are trying their best to access the affected areas,” it said on Wednesday.
Eskom is currently in the process of unbundling for efficient service delivery.
