Huawei has plans to deploy digital power solutions to tackle the energy deficit in Africa. The company, which notes that the continent suffers from huge energy challenges, believes that the renewable energy potential is key to solving them.
Huawei’s Director of its Southern Africa Digital Power Business, Huang Su, highlighted at a virtual conference the need to accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions across the continent to increase reliable and affordable energy access for households, businesses, and communities. “Digital and intelligent technologies can be of great help to ensure we provide sufficient electricity to every African household and business,” Su added.
Su noted that the decreasing cost of renewable energy compared to fossil fuel options would likely see it play an important part in the global energy mix. Huawei is committed to being a part of this by providing digital power solutions driven by digital technologies.
Su added that Huawei’s smart PV solution has already been deployed in about 60 countries and regions and had generated over 300 billion kWh of clean power, providing access to millions and hundreds of industries globally. “Over time, Huawei will deploy more and more scalable power stations. These power stations can be managed and maintained online, further reducing their carbon footprint,” He added.
