  • Rawalpindi and Islamabad electricity supply affected
  • 80% of consumers facing prolonged blackouts

Rainfall in the cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad has disrupted electricity supply to consumers causing prolonged blackouts. As a result, more than 80% of consumers in the two cities face prolonged blackouts and power cuts. In addition, at least 65 feeders in the affected cities tripped off following heavy rainfall in both cities.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Dr Muhammad Amjad Khan, explaining the prolonged blackout, said, ”Some of power supply feeders have tripped due to heavy rainfall. Field staff was continuously working to restore power supply in all areas,”. He assured consumers that work is currently ongoing to restore supply to the affected feeders.

Consumers in these cities face at least 7 hours without electricity supply. Prime Minister Imran Khan, three weeks ago, replaced the former IESCO Chief Chaudhry Abdul Razaaq due to poor performance.
