Egyptian delegation led by the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohammed El Shaker, has visited Russia’s largest machine-building enterprise in Syzran in the Samara region. At the end of the meeting, the delegation signed an agreement for the production of the core catcher devices for power units1 and 2 of Egypt’s El-Dabaa Nuclear power plant.
“Today’s truly important event is the result of diligent collaboration by project teams from both Russia and Egypt. The construction of Egypt’s nuclear power plant is taking place with the full support of political leadership. It is gratifying to see that the team is showing good results and successfully fulfilling all the tasks it faces in realising this project,” El Shaker said.
The Samara Region Governor, Dmitry Azarov, who was present at the visit said, “It is very important for the Samara region to expand its cooperation with foreign states, including by increasing the volume of products the region manufactures for world markets.”.
Egypt has begun the process of diversifying its energy sources. The El Dabaa nuclear power plant will be the country’s first plant with a total capacity of 4,800MW.
