  • Siemens has been awarded a wind turbines supply contract for a 322MW wind project in India.
  • Siemens will supply 180 units of its SG3-145 wind turbine models.
  • Siemens will manufacture the turbines in India.

Siemens Gamesa has been awarded the contract to develop a 322MW wind energy project by the Indian renewable energy company ReNew Power. Siemens Gamesa will supply and install 180 of its SG3-145 wind turbine models in Karnataka state. Of the 180 turbines,  93 units will be installed in the Tondehall project in the Koppal district while 87 in the 301MW Hombal project in the Gadang district.

Siemens Gamesa will produce the turbines at its Indian manufacturing facility.  According to Siemens, the SG 3.4-145 wind turbine delivers a nominal power of 3.465MW and can operate up to 3.6MW under specific site conditions representing one of the most efficient and cost-effective solutions in the market.

This is the second order that Siemens Gamesa will fulfil for ReNEW following an earlier deal to supply turbines for a 301MW project in July 2021. Navin Dewaji, India CEO of Siemens Gamesa, stated: “We are happy to announce these two large deals for the SG 3.4-145 turbine with ReNew Power, one of our long-standing customers in India, and we thank ReNew for their trust in our capabilities.

Siemens Gamesa is set to supply the turbines in 2022.
