- To collaborate on water and energy access
The French Ambassador to Mauritius, Mrs Florence Caussé-Tissier, met with the Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Mr Georges Pierre Lesjongard to discuss collaborations on access to water and energy.
”Two major topics, namely the water sector and the energy sector, which are currently being taken up by teams of the Agence française de développement (AFD) and the Mauritian authorities, were at the heart of discussions this afternoon” Caussé-Tissier said in a statement following the meeting with Lesjongard.
Caussé-Tissier indicated the focus of France in the Mauritian energy sector as that of efficiency in the sector. She further highlighted the relationship between France and Mauritius over the years. She noted, both parties also discussed the water sector and particularly the €600,000 subsidy granted to Mauritius by the Agence française de développement (AFD). This grant will allow, among others, to set up two water observatories in Mauritius and Rodrigues, she pointed out.
