850,000 Consumers Without Supply Across the Mid-West United States

The Mid-West experienced severe weather conditions resulting in a massive blackout leaving at least 850,000 homes without electricity supply. Michigan, Ohio and Illinois customers were cut off from supply following the storm. More than 400,000 DTE and 200,000 Consumers Energy customers were affected by the storm. Both companies have dispatched several workers to begin the restoration of supply in affected areas. DTE also brought in 1,000 out of state workers to help with the restoration efforts.

In a statement by Consumers Energy, more than 200,000 customers were without supply, and consumers should expect a restoration of supply by the end of Friday. The company also added that it is bringing additional workers to help with the restoration of supply.

In Illinois, the weather service confirmed that at least seven tornadoes hit Northern Illinois on Tuesday. A heat advisory, however, remains in place for North-Central Illinois, Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana. Also, about 100,000 customers in southeast Wisconsin were without power following storms that had at least three tornadoes.
