Transource Energy to hold a public forum in Oklahoma to gather feedback on its planned 80-mile overhead transmission line across some parts of the state. The Sooner-Wekiwa project which costs, $100 million, will address the challenges to the electricity grid in the Southwest Power Pool. The project would increase consumer access to more affordable power and save millions in electricity costs for customers in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and Louisiana.

Transource Energy is a partnership between American Electric Power (AEP) and Evergy. AEP generates, transmits and distributes electric power to about 565,000 retail customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma.

Construction is expected to begin in 2024 and conclude in late 2025.
