Green Energy for African Citizens (GBE) and the German International Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) are launching a new financing programme based on the results of installations of solar systems for productive use in the Ivory Coast. The Green Energy for African Citizens (GBE) is an initiative launched by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and jointly implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the German Development Bank (KfW). The initiative aims to develop and secure sustainable energy supplies for rural dwellers on the continent.
The GBE has launched a new call for expressions of interest in the Ivory Coast. This new call focuses on solar energy developers, especially those specialising in solar technologies for productive use and companies providing solar refrigerators or freezers and solar irrigation services. Selected applicants will be invited to tender in future procurement processes. The deadline for applicants to apply is September 10th, 2021.
GBE has also launched a call for projects in Ethiopia, Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Namibia, Senegal, Uganda and Zambia, for a €1 million grant funding opportunity. These projects will target two specific energy access challenges: “increasing the sustainability of off-grid installations” and “reducing CO2 emissions through energy access” The deadline for this call is August 31st 2021.
