The government of Tanzania will begin collecting property tax from electricity tokens purchased by consumers. The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) will begin implementing the new property tax policy today.
In a statement by the Commissioner-General TRA, Alphayo Kidata, the new collection system will be implemented in collaboration with the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO). The new system will apply to electricity tokens purchased for all types of electricity meters.
