- Egypt will deploy mini-grids in the Moghra oasis.
- Azelio will supply 20 storage units to store power from the mini-grids.
- The installation is part of an ecological agriculture project in the Northern African country.
Azelio will supply 20 of its E.S.POD® energy storage units for $1.5 million to Egypt. Egyptian company, Engazaat Development S.A.E., placed the order as part of its project to develop ecological agriculture in Egypt. The sustainable agro-village and SAVE entrepreneurship platform project is being implemented in the Moghra oasis in the governorate of Marsa-Matruh in northern Egypt. The oasis comprises a small four km² lake containing brackish water, salt marshes and reeds.
The Engazaat Development S.A.E. project will involve the installation of solar-powered mini-grids. The installed solar panels will have a cumulative capacity of 260 kWp. The storage units will store power from the mini-grids for used past sunset.
Azelio expects the benefiting farmers to obtain 85 per cent of their energy demand from renewable sources. Azelio and Engazaat Development S.A.E. will set up a joint venture to deploy the mini-grid systems.
