Trina Solar Achieves Record 23.5% Efficiency for 210mm Solar Cells

  • Trina Solar has achieved a record efficiency for its 210mm solar cells.
  • The company has improved on the record 23.03% achieved earlier in June.

China’s Trina Solar says that its State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology (SKL PVST) has recorded a new efficiency of 23.56 per cent for its larger-area 210mm P-type monocrystalline silicon PERC cells in production. The National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality (CPVT) independently verified the new world record.

According to Trina, the advanced 210 PERC cells were produced in mass production lines by the research and development (R&D) group utilising industrial feasible manufacturing equipment and materials.
At the end of June, Trina achieved a record 23.03% aperture module efficiency for its larger-area industrial silicon p-type modules. The company says that it accomplished the result with its proprietary Vertex high-efficiency p-type monocrystalline silicon module.
