- NamPower begins construction of Auas-Gerus transmission line
- The project will improve supply to consumers
Namibia’s state-owned utility NamPower has begun the construction of the 400kV Auau-Gerus transmission line. The 287km project will run from the Auas substation in Dorbabis to the Gerus substation in Otjiwarongo. In a statement, Nampower stated that the project is part of its investment in expanding its transmission infrastructure by more than 800km. The project is constructed by Power Line Africa and costs N$629,801,144.44.
The transmission project will increase transmission capacity, improve service to consumers, and enhance electricity trade between Namibia and countries in the South African Power Pool (SAPP).
The project is expected to be completed by the second half of 2022.
