According to the African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), six more solar PV projects in the Northern Cape and North West provinces of South Africa have commenced commercial operations. The projects include the 50MW De Wildt solar project, the 68MW Bokamoso solar project, the 75MW Zeerust solar project, the 75MW Waterloo solar project in the North West, and the 55MW Boikanyo and the 75MW Malta A Bokone projects in the Northern Cape.
All projects were awarded under Round 4 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPP). The projects are also part of Energy Infrastructure Management Services (EIMS) Africa, clean energy portfolio. EIMS Africa is owned by the infrastructure equity IDEAS Fund, an AIIM-managed fund, and has one of the largest renewable energy portfolios in South Africa. The fund plans to expand its generation capacity to 1GW by the end of the year.
