JinkoSolar has announced that it is set to invest $500 million in constructing a monocrystalline ingot and wafer factory with an annual capacity of 7GW in Vietnam. The company believes that the new factory will ensure the long term stability of its global supply chain. The new facility will be cited in the Quang Ninh Province and is the first PV project in the province’s Quang Yen Coastal Economic Zone.
Approval for the construction was granted earlier in the year ad JinkoSolar plans to commence operations of the facility in Q1 2022. JinkoSolar currently operates nine manufacturing facilities globally with 22 overseas subsidiaries. The solar cell manufacturer estimates that it will ship between 25GW and 30GW of solar components, including modules, cells and wafers.
