- Osibanjo to attend High-Level UN Event
- 2030 Net-Zero target high on the agenda
In a statement, Laolu Akande, the spokesperson for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, announced the departure of the Vice President to the United Kingdom (UK) to represent President Muhammadu Buhari at the United Nations’ High-Level event on global energy transition. The meeting comes ahead of the UN Climate Conference COP26 scheduled to hold in Glasgow, Scotland, next month.
The event will hold today at the Imperial College, London and will feature meetings organised by UN-Energy. Vice President Osinbajo will hold talks with Alok Sharma, Chair of the UK COP26 Energy Transition Council, to discuss issues regarding the global Net-Zero emissions target and the key elements for an equitable transition.
Osinbajo will deliver an address at the Imperial College to the academic community on Nigeria’s position on a just energy transition.
