- Issues guidelines for the conduct of certifications
- To regulate photovoltaic installers
The Ghanaian Energy Commission has launched the Guidelines for implementing the Electrical Wiring Regulations (EWR) 2011. The Commission has introduced a syllabus for the conduct of certification examinations for practitioners. In addition, the Commission launched the electrical wiring certification scholarship scheme sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) West Africa Energy Programme (WAEP)
Speaking during the virtual launch, the Deputy Energy Minister, Mr William Owuraku Aidoo, commended the achievements of the Energy Commission in enforcing the EWR 2011. The Commission has so far conducted two certification exams and registered 11,513 electricians in the sector.
”All the above achievements have been made possible by the Guidelines developed as a requirement under the L.I. 2008,” Mr Aidoo said.
”It is also noteworthy that the reviewed electrical wiring certification syllabus includes new test items that will be used in the upcoming November/ December 2021 electrical wiring certification examinations,” he said.
The Board Chairman, Energy Commission, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, speaking at the launch, stated that, in addition to certifying electrical installers in the sector, the Commission would begin the regulation of the activities of Solar Photovoltaic installers.
