The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) is set to concession 12 mini-hydropower plants in the country. The Director-General, BPE (DG, BPE), Alex Okoh, has inaugurated a project delivery team to facilitate the concession process.
In a statement issued by the Head, Public Communications BPE, Amina Othman, the DG, BPE has called for the diversification of energy sources to augment generation capacity to meet the demands of the growing population. The mini-hydropower plants include 8 greenfield and 4 brownfield plants located in Adamawa, Kogi, Ogun, Benue, Taraba and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The project delivery team consists of members drawn from stakeholder Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), including the BPE and Ministry of Water Resources.
