  • Hwange expansion project reaches 72% completion

The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) announced that the Hwange Power Station expansion project is now 72% complete. The Hwange power station has suffered several setbacks that have affected the delivery timelines.

In a statement, the ZPC stated that the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the delivery of the project. ”The project is, however, behind schedule due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, which resulted in low levels of manpower on-site as a result of travel restrictions,” ZPC said.

The $1.5bn Hwange expansion project has a capacity of 920MW and aims to improve the power supply in Zimbabwe.
