- Government working with Eskom to reduce incessant load shedding
The South African Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, has stated that the Department of Public Enterprises is working closely with state-owned utility Eskom to resolve incessant load shedding. Gungubele stated that the Department is looking to limit the duration and periods of load shedding.
“Cabinet acknowledges the disruptions and inconvenience of intermittent load shedding experienced by South Africans in recent days,” Gungubele stated.
The Minister further noted that the government is currently implementing interventions to resolve the challenges experienced in electricity service delivery.
“We are making every effort to bring new power generation capacity online in the shortest possible time,” he said.
Eskom has recently implemented several load shedding interventions to reduce the strain on its network infrastructure.
