- ECG embarks on revenue drive
- To curtail illegal connections and weed out defaulting customers
The Electricity Company (ECG) has embarked on a revenue drive in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The ECG intends to check revenue collection and power theft in the region. The ECG last week began mobilising for revenue improvement within 14 of its operational areas.
The ECG intends to stem illegal connections and also fish out defaulting customers during the exercise. The exercise also involved sensitising customers on the impact of illegal activities on service delivery.
The Eastern Regional Manager of the ECG, Mr Michael Baah, who spoke with the press during the exercise said, the rise in illegal connections and defaulting customers cost the utility millions.
“We are therefore sending a strong warning to people; to these unscrupulous people engaged in power theft to desist from such activities,” he explained,” Baah said.
“When found culpable, you will be punished accordingly because we would hand you over to the law enforcement agencies to deal with you,” he warned,” he added.
The ECG carried out the exercise in various districts including, Koforidua, Suhum, Tafo, Kibi, Asamankese, and Oda
