- IAEA hails Egyptian nuclear project
- Dabaa nuclear plant will begin operations in 2026
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has voiced full support for Egypt’s Nuclear power project, the Dabaa nuclear power plant. Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi made this known in a meeting with the Egyptian officials led by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi. Grossi called the Dabaa nuclear project a “major and significant step in the direction of peaceful uses of nuclear energy in Egypt.”
President El Sisi thanked the IAEA for the support in promoting nuclear power and added that “the International Atomic Energy Agency bears a great responsibility towards enhancing the region’s stability and security,”
The Dabaa nuclear project is being implemented by the Russian nuclear energy corporation (Rosatom) and is expected to begin operations in 2026.
