- BUA, Wartsila sign 70MW PPA
- To construct a dual-fuel power plant in Sokoto

BUA Group has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Finnish firm Wartsila to construct a dual-fuel 70MW power plant in Sokoto. At the signing ceremony, the Chairman of BUA Cement Plc, Abdul Samad Rabiu, reiterated his confidence in the efficiency of Wartsila towards to completion of the project.
“We believe Wartsila will bring the same level of efficiency, technical expertise and professionalism to bear in ensuring that this new power plant for the 3million Mtpa BUA Cement Sokoto Line 4 will be completed on schedule by the end of next year as we look towards bringing BUA’s total capacity in its Sokoto plant to 8 million metric tonnes by early 2023,” he added.
Wartsila’s Energy Business Director for West Africa, Mark Thiriet, assured of Wartsila’s commitment to ensuring the project is completed using technical and global expertise.
BUA Group is looking to boost production capacity over the next three years. This project is the second power plant to be constructed by Wartsila for BUA Group. The first being the BUA Cement Sokoto Power Plant.
