- Federal Government fulfils promise to AEDC employees
- Pays all outstanding arrears owed
The Federal Government has fulfilled its promise to pay all arrears owed to the employees of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). The FG made this commitment following the industrial action embarked on by the Distribution Company (DisCo) employees late last year, which caused a total blackout in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, made this known through his spokesperson, Isa Sanusi, who acknowledged that the FG had fulfilled its pledge, making payments for “..unpaid allowances, salaries, union deductions and unremitted 20 months pensions contributions deducted from salaries,”
In December, employees of AEDC embarked on an industrial action throwing the FCT and environs into darkness. In response, the FG suspended the Management and the Board of the DisCo, subsequently appointing an Interim Management Team (IMT) led by Engr. Akinwumi Bada.
