- Nefco via the BGFA is seeking companies to train Ugandans in off-grid energy development.
- The training will comprise two modules – SHS and Green Mini-grid development.
- The BGFA initiative aims to provide energy access to 3 million Ugandans.
The Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) intends to provide off-grid training for participants in Uganda. The BFGA via fund manager, Nefco has launched a call for expressions of interest to companies and organizations that can provide courses to develop participants’ technical, commercial, and business skills. The two-module training will be dedicated to solar home systems and mini-grid development. The selected company or consortium will train participants in installing and maintaining these stand-alone solar systems, including business and sales skills. The second will focus on technical training in clean mini-grid development.
According to the BGFA, the “courses may differ in terms of duration and expertise required, and should be tailored to the needs of each energy service provider or other participating entity.” The BFGA has budgeted €600,000 for the training, which is expected to take 18 and 24 months. About 300 Ugandans will benefit from the programme. Nefco offers the training under the BGFA’s third call for proposals (BGFA3). The BGFA aims to provide energy access to about 3 million people via 600,000 new connections.
Companies or organizations seeking to provide training services must apply by January 27, 2022. You can access more information on the training here.
