- NTPC to build 900MW of solar PV capacity in Cuba
- The project will be developed under the ISA Programme 6.
The Government of Cuba has selected NTPC, a corporate member of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), as its preferred partner for constructing solar PV parks. As such, state owned power company has issued a request for proposals for a 900MW solar PV park in Cuba. “NTPC Ltd, India’s largest integrated energy producer, invites bids from developers to build solar PV parks in the Republic of Cuba,” the company’s statement reads.
Through its Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), the Cuban government has enlisted the help of ISA to build 900MW of solar PV parks in 175 locations across the country’s 15 provinces. Under the ISA Program 6, NTPC will assist UNE and MINEM in the selection process, the signing of project agreements, and project oversight until commissioning. This 900MW project is part of Cuba’s 2,100MW solar project implementation target and is expected to generate 2,400 MWh annually.
The tender process for the request for qualification (RFQ) will begin in March 2022 and end in May 2022.
