French microgrid company Ecosun has launched an autonomous solar-powered trailer capable of providing power in off-grid communities. The trailer has a size of 6.76 x 2.19 x 1.1 m and weighs 1.8 t. It is equipped with a foldable mast that can be raised to a height of 7m with lighting provided by four 50 W adjustable LEDs. In addition, the vehicle can host between 15 solar panels generating 360W each with a total output of 5.4kW.

The system is fitted with a Victron Multiplus II inverter with a rated power of between 3.5 and 8kVa. It also comprises LiFePo4 batteries, which Ecosun says can last for  4,000 charge/discharge cycles at 90% depth of discharge (DoD). The system can also be interconnected with a diesel generator for backup power generation.

The trailer can be toed via a normal vehicle and can be easily deployed hydraulically or electrically. According to the company, a single person may need between five and 10 minutes to deploy the solar system completely.
