- TCN restores 180MW from the partially resumed Egbin Power Plant.
- GenCo is working to resume operations on all of its units.
According to the management of Egbin Power Plc, the power plant restarted operations following the fire incident last Wednesday at the generation plant. The company stated that Unit (STO5) was put back in service and synchronised to the national grid at 7:57 p.m. last Friday. The plant currently generates 220MW while the technical team continues to work towards increasing the generation capacity of the plant by 660MW.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has also confirmed that it has restored 180MW out of the 630MW shut down in Egbin Power Station. TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, in a statement, noted that the fire at the power plant has caused the shutdown of all its power generating units. The shutdown resulted in load shedding in the Lagos axis of the grid.
