Following regulatory approval from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority (NMDRA), a 2,500 barrel per day (BPD) modular refinery, a five-megawatt power plant, a 40-million-SCF gas processing facility, and a data centre will be operational in Edo State in March.

According to Crusoe Osagie, Special Assistant to the Governor of Edo State for Media, the facilities are located in an Energy Park in Egbokor, Orhionmwon council, Edo State, and operated by a private company, Duport Midstream Company Limited (DMCL).

The park will be built in stages. The first phase includes a 10,000 barrel per day refinery, a 60-million-SCF gas processing facility, a 10-million-SCF compressed natural gas (CNG) facility, a 50-megawatt power plant, and a data centre.

During an inspection of the facility, Dr Akintoye Akindele, Chief Executive Officer of DMCL, said the plant would be ready by the end of March. “When it comes online, the facility will leverage infrastructure to deliver energy to the country, reduce reliance on petroleum product imports, create jobs, and ensure optimal utilization of its assets,” he said.
