Romania-based Oil and Gas Group OMV Petrom has revealed that it has concluded its 4,600MWh photovoltaic (PV) park project, located in the Olt county part of the country. The project is meant to supply clean energy for the company’s operations.
A total of 1,000 PV panels were installed in the park, with an output capacity of 4,600MWh of clean electricity over the estimated 13 years of its life cycle. The project, which will serve as a clean alternative electricity source, will help reduce more than 1,200 tonnes of carbon emissions that would have been generated for the same amount of energy generation through using conventional fossil energy.
“This project is a first for us and is part of the energy efficiency programme, through which we aim to reduce our environmental impact. We will continue developing such projects that support our objective of decarbonizing operations,” OMV Petrom executive board member, responsible for exploration and production Chris Veit said.
