Scottish Power to Deploy Renewables Project in East Anglia

  • Two mega projects to have over 140 wind turbines
  • Thousands of UK homes to be fed with renewable power

Two projects meant to form a part of the 3,100MW East Anglia Hub of Scottish Power Renewables project in th East Anglia Offshore Wind complex in UK waters have been granted permission to commence.

According to the decision, consent for development has been awarded to the 800MW East Anglia One North and the 900MW East Anglia Two wind projects.  “The cumulative impact would not increase from the minor adverse effect anticipated to occur from the proposed development alone,” concluded the government agency.

Although it was expected that decisions on both projects would have been issued earlier in the year, they were however delayed due to a request by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy for more information on issues regarding the projects’ potential effects on wildlife and risk of floods.

The East Anglia One North project is planned to have up to 67 turbines distributed over a 208km land space. The project is expected to deliver a power output that can meet the energy demands of approximately 660,000 UK homes. The East Anglia Two will have up to 75 wind turbines and a power generation output that can serve the energy demand of 800,000 households in the UK.
