Enel Green Power Signs a 12-year PPA in Australia

Enel Green Power (EGP) has revealed that it has signed a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Australian mining company- BHP Group. The agreement is concerning the 76MW Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage One.

The contract covers all large-scale generation certificates and electricity, effectively from 2024. Enel Green Power is to supply about 315GWh of electricity from wind every year to decarbonise BHP’s nickel operations. According to EGP, the output can meet the demand of both the KalgoorlieNickel Smelter and Kambalda concentrator.

Flat Rocks, with 18 Vestas turbines to be erected in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, is currently in its pre-construction planning phase and will require over USD 200 million (EUR 182.3m) in investments to be built. The project is being co-developed with local firm Moonies Hill Energy.
