- Fujitsu will receive 30% of its power from the renewable energy resource.
The Australian branch of Fujitsu Ltd, a Japanese tech company, will receive 30% of its power needs from the CWP Renewables wind park in New South Wales. The park, having a capacity of 270MW, is to supply the tech giant with power based on a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) between Fujitsu Australia and CWP Renewables.
According to the agreement of the PPA, Fujitsu Australia will now purchase power from the wind park to offset about 30,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year. The amount of power to be purchased is equivalent to 40% of Fujitsu’s data centre load in New South Wales.
The PPA is the first that Fujitsu Australia will be signing and is expected to take its legal binding stance from June 30, 2022. The development is the right step for Fujitsu and will aid the company in its 71.4% global carbon emission reduction target by 2030, in comparison to 2013 levels.
The park, located in Sapphire, is the largest wind farm in New South Wales. It is powered by 75 Vestas turbines and has been in operation since 2018.
