- The firm plans to produce aviation fuel from green hydrogen.
Sasol, South African-based firm, is set to launch a joint venture, SkyFuelH2, with Swedish energy company Uniper for the production of sustainable aviation fuel from green hydrogen.
SkyFuelH2 will build a plant to produce hydrogen-based aviation fuel obtained from renewable energies. The production of sustainable aviation fuel will also be based on carbon obtained from biomass using the Fischer-Tropsch process developed by Sasol.
In a statement by Fleetwood Grobler, chief executive officer, Sasol, “by using green hydrogen and sustainable carbon sources as feedstock in our proprietary Power-to-Liquids (PtL) process, we can now produce sustainable fuels, contributing to the prosperity of the planet, our group and our businesses.”
