- Companies’ efforts will support UAE’s Net-Zero Plans.
Masdar, a United Arab Emirates (UAE) based renewable energy company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) towards a joint study on renewable energy project opportunities. According to Masdar, the partnership will target offshore energy in its initial stages and might extend to green hydrogen production and battery storage technologies.
Both countries based in Abu Dhabi will see that the partnership supports the renewable energy strategy of the UAE. The UAE plans to attain net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
“Partnering with Masdar will undoubtedly contribute towards advancing energy transition in the country and open new avenues for clean energy integration and adoption,” said NPCC’s chief executive Ahmed Al Dhaheri.
Masdar is already an active player in the offshore wind power industry, being a shareholder in the London Array wind farm along the UK borders, and Hywind Scotland, which is the world’s first floating offshore wind farm. Earlier in the year, Masdar made an agreement with Cosmo Energy Holdings Co. to explore the development of renewable energy initiatives that include offshore wind projects in Japan.
