Q cells, a subsidiary of Hanwha Solutions Corp of South Korea, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) in the United States for the electricity generated by a new 150MW solar park in Wyoming.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, this is the first time the company has handled the development, procurement, and building of a solar power plant while executing an off-take deal for its output. It gave no information regarding the agreement’s counterparties.
According to Q cells, the solar power facility is expected to be completed by the end of next year. The facility will generate 350GWh of power per year at that stage.
The company has already completed the construction of a 168MW solar power plant in Texas and is currently working on a 380MWh energy storage system in the state. It stated that it intends to enter the power plant market aggressively.
