- Jinko Solar invests in Palette Business Solution for clean energy development.
- The two companies intend to distribute 50 MWh of storage capacity.
- JinkoSolar and Palette wish to expand their relationship to other countries.
Chinese-based company JinkoSolar has disclosed a partnership with Palette Business Solutions, a company based in Lagos, Nigeria, to distribute electricity storage systems. The company, led by Xiande Li, offers a lithium iron phosphate storage technology (LFP).
The system is made up of batteries that have been pre-installed in a container. The two companies intend to distribute 50 MWh of storage capacity in Nigeria. In recent years, this West African country has become one of the epicentres of solar energy electrification, owing in part to the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), which was executed with the help of the World Bank and private firms.
Electricity storage systems from JinkoSolar are required to function off-grid solar systems in rural locations effectively. “Our distribution network in Nigeria consists of committed dealers, professional installers and a competent support team. Palette started its operations in 2010 to combat the devastating effects of climate change and strives to raise awareness of the use of solar energy through its distribution of clean, uninterrupted electricity to rural and urban communities,” explains Charles Onyealisi Mezu, the Managing Director of Palette.
Solar energy is also becoming more popular in Nigeria’s cities, with businesses using it to cut their electricity bills and substitute for load shedding. This issue also exists in other nations in Sub-Saharan Africa. As a result, JinkoSolar and Palette wish to expand their relationship to other countries.
