- RMI and LHGP collaborate to unlock REG development in Nigeria.
- REG might open up 5 GW of integrated renewable energy in Nigeria.
- A few of REG’s features are continuous power supply, renewable energy supply and more.
The Rocky Mountain Foundation (RMI), in partnership with Lion Head Global Partners (LHGP), is implementing a viable business model to open up renewable embedded generation (REG) opportunities across the Nigeria power sector.
The REG project is funded by the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) programme. RMI and LHGP will collaborate with Nigerian stakeholders to create replicable REG data collection methodologies and business models. These models will be used to identify several pilot locations for immediate implementation. The REG project has the potential to unlock 5 GW of integrated renewable energy in Nigeria over the next five years while enhancing supply for underserved customers and communities.
RMI is collaborating with a few distribution firms to create a business model that can be quickly deployed and scaled up in light of the large energy shortfall. A few of REG’s features and advantages are continuous power supply, renewable energy supply, network upgrades, and pollution reduction.
