Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd has announced that it has energised its 329 MW Gecama wind farm in Spain. The wind farm is said to be the largest in the entire country. The company revealed that it had received permission to switch on 182 MW of the entire capacity, with full commercial operations expected to begin in several weeks’ time. The power plant is therefore currently undergoing partial commissioning.

The Gecama wind farm, located near Cuenca city in the Castille-La Mancha region, is powered by turbines made by Nordex and will be able to generate enough electricity for about 260,000 Spanish homes every year. The power yield will be sold on a merchant basis.

Enlight also revealed that the project was completed before the earlier stipulated time. The Israeli firm owns 72% of the special purpose vehicle (SPV) behind the scheme while the Phoenix group owns 14.7%. The remaining 13.3% is owned by Israeli investor Menora Group.

Enlight estimates that the wind farm will generate revenue between EUR 74 and 82 million in its first year of operations, and some EUR 62 million to 70 million in EBITDA.
