- The Honourable Minister of Power officially launched the platform.
- The platform will enable data-driven electrification planning.
The Honourable Minister of Power, Engr Abubakar Aliyu, alongside Inga Stefanowicz, Head of Section Green and Digital Economy at the European Delegation of Nigeria and ECOWAS and Martin Huth, Chargé d’affaires at the German Embassy to Nigeria, performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The upgraded NigeriaSE4ALL Platform 3.0 is live and will help coordinate the electrification of underserved and unserved communities in Nigeria.
At the launch, the Minister of Power noted that “access to digital, ground truth data is key to increasing the electrification rate in Nigeria. That is why the Ministry, under the umbrella of the nationwide Nigeria Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative, developed this platform, which will serve as the go-to platform for data-driven electrification planning to achieve Nigeria’s Vision 30:30:30”.
The project was implemented by the GiZ, with support from the European Union and the German Government aims to generate accurate data and the latest tools that empower better electrification planning in Nigeria. Learn more about the platform here.
SE4All and Power Africa, earlier in the week, also released a report on funding and financing mechanisms and delivery models for powering healthcare. The report is available for download here.
