Nordex Reveals Orders for Mega Wind Projects

  • Received orders to deliver hardware for 59 MW of wind projects.
  • The agreement includes service and maintenance for turbines.

Nordex SE, a German wind turbine manufacturer, has revealed that it has received orders that will have it deliver its hardware for 59 MW of wind projects that are currently under development by Italy’s Falck Renewables SpA in Finland. The Italian company’s Finnish subsidiary has placed two deals for a total of 10 turbines which are to be installed as part of its Mustalamminmaki and Koiramaki projects. Each of the two sites will have five pieces of the N163/5.X turbines in a cold climate version and coupled with an anti-icing system for the rotor blades to fit the harsh weather conditions.

Tubular steel towers of 148 metres will be the mount upon which the Nordex machines will seat. They are expected to be installed by the summer of 2023. The wind farms are to be located in the Karstula municipality in central Finland.

According to Nordex, a service and maintenance agreement for the turbines for a 10-year period is also included in the order. The two projects are Falck’s first wind developments in Finland. The Italian firm bought the schemes last November from Danish wind and solar developer European Energy for some EUR 7.3 million (USD 7.5m).
