- Hydro-Quebec is set to analyse tenders in its calls for tenders
- 480 MW of electricity to be generated from renewable energy sources and 300 MW by wind farms
Hydro-Quebec, a Candian electric utility, is set to analyse bids up to 4,205.3 MW in its latest calls for tenders toward 480 MW of electricity from renewable energy sources and 300 MW of power generated by wind farms.
27 projects have been submitted as part of the two different blocks. However, according to Hydro-Quebec, three of them will not be included in the competition. The 24 bids that will be proceeding include 11 proposals that have a total combined capacity of 2,103.6 MW, which were filed in the call for wind power. 13 proposals of 2,101.6 MW capacity and will be reviewed as part of the block targeting electricity from renewable energy sources.
The power delivery from the selected projects is to start before December 1, 2026. Regulators must clear each project.
The Canadian utility launched the two calls for tenders in December 2021. It will need a few months to assess the bids, assisted by consultancy Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton.
Electricity demand in Quebec is estimated to reach 20 TWh by 2029 for a 12% increase, as stated in the 2021 progress report on the Electricity Supply Plan 2020-2029, Hydro-Quebec said earlier.
