“Just Energy Transition Must Be In Deed”- Olu of Warri

The Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation hosted the ‘Towards A Just Transition In Nigeria: Opportunities And Risks” on Tuesday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua center. The event had in attendance high profiled individuals who shared their opinions on achieving inclusion and ensuring that the energy poverty gap was closed, leaving no one behind. 

The Olu of Warri, in His particular remark, stated that the negative externalities of the exploration of crude oil in the Niger Delta have been far greater than the benefits felt in the region. He emphasized that the transition from fossil fuels to renewables must not be just in words but in deed. It must include plans to transition whole communities into thriving economies that provide a livelihood that is productive, dignified, and ecologically sustainable.
